Hello,

    My name is James Schmit and I'm the Industrial Technology teacher at Dakota Valley High School.  I am currently in my second year of teaching.  I grew up in Central City, NE for my and went to the public school there for all my schooling before college. After high school I attended Wayne State College where I studied Industrial Technology Education.  I graduated from WSC in 2011 with a BA in Industrial Technology Education.  I student taught here at Dakota Valley and was fortunate enough to get the job after completing student teaching.  
  
 My wife's name is Carla Schmit and she works in Sioux City, IA in the insurance business for Arthur J. Gallagher.  In my free time I enjoy being outdoors either golfing, hunting, or fishing, etc.  I also enjoy watching sports (Huskers and the Yankees). Other than sports my interests are doing woodworking projects on the side.
  
  I also coach JH boys basketball, and StuCo (Student Council).  This next year (2012-2012) will be my first year helping out with StuCo with Mrs. Bacon.  Check back for future pictures and events on this website for StuCo.  
   
 I hope this lets you know a little about me.  I am making this website not only to be able to communicate better with my students but also to showcase the talents of the students here at Dakota Valley.  I want to showcase their work they do to not just the class but to anyone who wants to look at it.​
